During a typical week on the Software Engineering team, you will... 

  • Collaborate with the team to develop user interfaces and clarify product requirements.

  • Balance squashing of bugs and under-the-covers improvements alongside new features.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, to both technical and non-technical audiences, whether it's a Slack message, Trello comment, email, or GitHub comment. Work on some of the most difficult and meaty problems that the company faces.

  • Merge your latest feature that will drive forward safety and efficiency of our sites.

  • Interview users to get feedback on new product features.

  • Present what you learned or shipped this at a weekly demo session.

  • Contribute to and informally mentor other engineers by contributing to PR feedback.

About you

For this role, you must be passionate about frequently shipping intuitive, quality products. You also need a keen eye for design and thoughtful user experiences. You should have a startup mentality, meaning the ability to rapidly pick up new required skills, and be proactive when it comes to project execution. Lastly, you need strong debugging skills to support full lifecycle product ownership. 

Our software is built with several different technologies, including ReactJS, React Native, UWP and ASP.NET, and AWS technologies. You will master at least one, and occasionally work in all of these. 


The ideal candidate for this role is proficient with JavaScript, UWP or ASP.NET and has experience with the following:

  • Amazon Web Services

  • Functional Programming methodologies

  • Upholding high-bar of UX principles and technical trade-offs

  • GraphQL and JSON APIs

  • Git and GitHub workflows

  • Offline device operation and data synchronization considerations

  • Writing testable code, and using Continuous Integration tools

  • Be a responsible team member: do code reviews, mentor others, refactor code and share knowledge

  • Ensure that a healthy, safe, secure and environmentally conscious work environment is maintained always and by all staff, in compliance with corporate policies and federal and state regulations

Professional Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree(s) with a solid understanding of computer science

  • Familiarity with spiral and agile software development

  • Web Application Skills, including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and ReactJS

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

  • Expert in JavaScript, using modern web practices (Promises, ES 2016, Babel) and Node.js with Express or Hapi

  • Experience using Webpack

  • Experience with Continuous Integration and/or Continuous Delivery

  • Experience with UI frameworks such as Blueprint or Material-UI

  • Extremely proficient at creating, consuming, and documenting RESTful services and architecture

  • Expert using browser tooling for profiling and auditing.

  • Experience using unit testing libraries and utilities such as Jest

  • UI/UX Skills:

    • Developing business/user objectives and user flow

    • Wireframing, prototyping and virtual design mock ups
