The Senior UI/UX Designer owns the product design lifecycle at Cumulus. They design practical UI/UX experiences for industrial environments. Our users are the tradesmen, engineers, and managers of industrial maintenance and construction jobs. This role requires the combination of art and science, aesthetics and utility, spanning the ability to research diverse user needs, develop visual design concepts to meet those needs and seamlessly partner with front-end software development efforts to implement those concepts on a technical level.
During a typical week on the Software Engineering team, you will…
Collaborate with the team to develop user interfaces and clarify product requirements.
Balance squashing of bugs and under-the-covers improvements alongside new features.
Communicate clearly and effectively, to both technical and non-technical audiences, whether it's a Slack message, Trello comment, email, or GitHub comment. Work on some of the most difficult and meaty problems that the company faces.
Interview users to get feedback on new product features. Lead brainstorms, research and testing, user journey mapping, design review sessions, and development of our design language.
Present what you learned or shipped this at a weekly demo session.
Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts related to product design.
Manage design process and delivery end to end, including design asset management.
Participate in user testing.
Provide actionable feedback on design iterations.
Work closely with product managers, product marketing and engineering to deliver experiences that help pipe fitters work more efficiently and accurately, deliver actionable metrics to managers and provide engineers with streamlined data entry and correctness.

Work directly with multiple customers to design and build modular front end applications for both web and mobile platforms capable of easily supporting many different sites with different requirements
Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
Collaborate with development teams to define and implement solutions for product direction and visuals
Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, interaction prototypes, and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas
Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and senior stakeholders alike

Ensure that a healthy, safe, secure and environmentally conscious work environment is maintained always and by all staff, in compliance with corporate policies and federal and state regulations
Professional Qualifications (required):
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, human computer interaction, UI/UX with a solid understanding of computer science and graphic arts
7+ years of experience supporting fielding software systems as a UI/UX designer, software development skills are a must
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction and experience establishing and promoting design guidelines, best practices and standards
Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders
Experience executing all visual design stages from concept to development to final hand-off
Up to date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle or other visual design and wireframing tools
