Cumulus Selected for Collision Conference’s 2019 Growth Track: Start-Ups To Watch

BOSTON, April 23, 2019 – Cumulus Digital Systems, a Massachusetts company building the Internet of Tools to make industrial facilities safer, cleaner, and more productive, today announced that it has been selected for Collision Conference’s 2019 Growth track of successfully launched start-ups to watch that are experiencing considerable growth, have raised more than $3 million, and are expanding globally. The Conference takes place in Toronto from May 20-23, 2019.

Manual work in industrial maintenance and construction lags far behind other industries on the road to digitalization. Work practices are often siloed, paper based, provide little real-time data, and offer little accountability at the individual worker level.

Cumulus is closing the digitalization gap by enabling a completely connected and data-driven industrial workforce, where poor work quality no longer causes accidents, unplanned downtime, and rework. The Cumulus platform collects data from digitally-enabled tools in the field to provide a single source of “truth” for real-time quality assurance and progress tracking.

“Manual work at industrial sites has not changed significantly in the last 50 years,” says Cumulus Co-Founder & CEO Matthew Kleiman. “Cumulus is transforming maintenance and construction with unprecedented data transparency at the individual worker level. We are collecting and analyzing data that has not existed before today.”

Cumulus’ flagship platform product, the Smart Torque System (STS), was recently recognized as the 2019 Industrial IoT Innovation of the Year by Breakthrough IoT. STS improves productivity and work quality during safety-critical industrial bolting activities and is currently operational at facilities in the United States, Canada, Singapore, and Trinidad & Tobago. The system has been demonstrated to reduce data review and quality assurance costs by as much as 60% and reduce unplanned downtime through a better than 99% pass rate during leak testing.

“We are excited to be selected by Collision for Growth 2019,” says Kleiman. “It is an honor to be recognized as being an innovator in our industry.”
